Michael C. Cortese is a 2009 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a B.A. in History. Following graduation, Mike returned home and began a career as a high school history teacher and football coach at two different high schools in the Chicagoland area.
After Mike and his wife moved back to Philadelphia in June of 2017, Mike attended Widener University Delaware Law School beginning that fall and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in May of 2020. While in law school, Mike was an editor for the Widener Law Review and a member of the Transactional Law Honor Society. Mike achieved Dean’s List recognition in 2019. Mike also completed a semester long externship with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey in the fall of 2019, where he conducted research, wrote memos, and provided analysis/edits to vendor contracts with the Horizon Government Teams group (Medicare/Medicaid).
Prior to joining us, Mike handled worker's compensation and personal injury claims. Mike also has experience from prior firms, where he mainly did Plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance subrogation work. Upon graduating law school, Mike served as the judicial law clerk for the 2020-2021 term to the Honorable M. Susan Sheppard, Presiding Judge Family Part, for the Superior Court of Atlantic/Cape May County, New Jersey.
Mike is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
